Jail Ministry

Please intercede for these prisoners by name.
  1. Ask God to give a good response from the church to the request from the jail for “sports bras” for the ladies. We are going to be able to attach a note, so if they want a visit they can let us know through the Corrections Officers.
  2. Luis Martinez needs someone to visit him, pray that God would provide a visitor.
  3. Ask God that more Bible studies will go on among prisoners; there are several going on with the men in the lower level. Plus, some of the prisoners are sharing their faith with others. Pray for a revival in the jail; that God would change hearts and make it a place where prisoners will hear the gospel.
  4. Pray for Michelle Lewis at the women's prison in Vandalia. She has been placed in the “Christian Wing.” Pray for the tapes that they get to watch on TV (some are Christian); and for the influence of the daily Bible study. Praise that they get to be separate from the rest of the population of the prison; they get to have Christian books sent in to them; and that Michelle is the “clerk” for the chaplain and has a good attitude of trust in God.
  5. Jeremy Griesse is visiting Phil Feilder. Phil needs to have his eyes opened to his need for God; he doesn’t understand the gospel. Pray that God will do this for him.
  6. There is a lot of time to read in the jail and this could make a real difference in a prisoner’s life. Ask God for continuing, ongoing financial support to pay for the good Christian books that we place in the pods.
  7. Chris Gunby is visiting Lucas Soden. Lucas thinks he is saved but he does not, as yet, understand the gospel. He has no sense of sin and desperately needs a visit from the Holy Spirit to see his sin before he can be truly saved.
  8. We are recording our Sunday services and they are being played in the jail. In a “lead-in” and “trailer” to the message, we tell the prisoners that they can request a visit from our church. Pray for the impact of these messages as they go into the jail; also that they will be played at a time when prisoners are awake and will see them. Also pray that prisoners will want to be visited to talk about their spiritual condition as a result of seeing the sermons.
  9. Ilda Kennon is visiting Sharon Vilcek. Ilda won’t be able to visit for the next week, so pray that Sharon continues to seek the Lord. Sharon is helping get Bibles to some of the women prisoners. Praise that she gets to see her grandchildren. Sharon requested prayer for her daughter, who has financial issues and is going to need another place to live. When she moves, she will be farther away from Sharon and won't be able to visit. Please pray for Sharon's case as it moves through the system and her health: that she receives adequate medical treatment.
  10. Pray for the officers who work in the jail, for safety, and for patience with the prisoners. They are terribly understaffed and over stressed.

Justin and Melissa Vold - Ambassadors for Christ International in Alaska
  • That Justin will share the gospel with one of the chiefs of the Athabaskan Villages and in the churches
  • For the people of the Wind River Indian reservation in Wyoming. There seems to be very little true gospel work going on there. There also seems to be much fear and doubt from the surrounding churches about ministry there.
